The minimum amount for group training is 8 people.

When can Help-A-Heart CPR train at my location?

We are open Monday through Saturday for onsite classes.

How old does my child need to be in order to be a part of a CPR or First Aid class?

As long as the child can practice the skills, sit for the duration of the class, and complete the test alone, they are welcome!

How long are most CPR and First Aid certifications valid?

Most AHA, ARC, and ASHI certifications are valid for two years.

What is the difference between BLS and CPR?

BLS certification classes cover all of the training covered in CPR certification courses, plus additional instruction on using breathing barriers and bag valve masks, administering two-rescuer CPR, and handling cardiovascular emergencies in special situations. CPR and BLS certification classes can both be taken by students with no prior medical experience.

Who is required to get a BLS certification?

A BLS certification is required for all healthcare workers and rescue professionals. It’s also highly recommended for personal trainers, teachers and other childcare workers, personal trainers, coaches, and other professions that deal with high volumes of people (positions that require a CPR certification).

Does Help-A-Heart CPR offer CPR or First Aid classes in Spanish?

Yes. We offer the CPR/AED/First Aid classes in Spanish. The Spanish only classes are offered 2-3 times a month. The certifications are provided by either the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross.

What topics are covered in the Basic First Aid class?

The First Aid Class covers: Patient Assessment Asthma Muscle and Bone Injuries Seizures Trauma (bleeding wounds) Legal and Emotional Considerations Falls Heat and Cold Emergencies (Heat Stroke, Hypothermia, etc.) Allergic Reactions and Anaphylaxis

Who can become ACLS certified?

Anyone can become ACLS certified. However, prospective ACLS course enrollees must first complete a BLS course or demonstrate working medical knowledge. To become ACLS certified, you must enroll in and complete and ACLS course from an accredited ACLS course provider.

WHAT ARE THE STEPS IN CPR?

Identify that a person is unconscious and can’t be woken.
Alert emergency services by calling 911, or instructing a bystander to call while you perform CPR.
Position one hand in the center of the victim’s chest.
Place your other hand above the resting hand and interlock your fingers.
Begin chest compressions.
Give 30 compressions.
Open the airway. Tilt the victim’s head back enough that their mouth falls open.
While holding the patient’s chin (so the mouth stays open) use your other hand to pinch their nostrils shut.
Put your mouth over theirs and breathe in. You should see their chest rise and fall.
Alternate between compressions and rescue breaths until help arrives, or the victim regains consciousness.
