On the contrary, maybe you just know that the word AED is synonymous with CPR and is often needed in an emergency medical situation. Whatever your background, it is important to understand the realities behind the use of the AED and what is truth and what may be fiction.
The AED (automated external defibrillator) is a lightweight and portable device that administers an electric shock to a person whose heart has ceased to pump blood. In combination with chest compressions, the use of the AED can allow the heart to start beating again.
