What Are The CPR INSTRUCTOR TRAINING PRE-REQUISITES?
Here are the steps. A. Complete an AHA Instructor Candidate Application. B. Have current AHA provider status in the discipline of the Instructor Course, and be proficient in all the skills of that discipline. Disciplines include ACLS, BLS, PALS, PEARS® and Heartsaver. C. Successfully complete the discipline-specific Instructor Essentials online course, and print the course completion certificate. The AHA Instructor Essentials course can be found by clicking on the following link: American Heart Association Instructor Essentials. D. Successfully complete the discipline-specific classroom Instructor Course; BLS CPR for HCP Instructor Course, Heartsaver CPR/AED/First Aid Instructor Course, BLS/Heartsaver Dual Instructor Certification Course, ACLS Instructor Course, or the PEARS and/or PALS Instructor Course. E. Successfully be monitored teaching one to two courses within six months after completing the Instructor Course (We will coordinate this with you during the Instructor Training). F. We encourage Instructors to obtain professional liability insurance. This insurance offers personal protection to CPR, AED and First Aid Instructors who may find themselves vulnerable to a lawsuit or claim. Your reputation and personal finances could be at risk, even if a claim is unjustified. Each Instructor determines whether liability insurance is right for their business and where to gain coverage.
Once you become an AHA Instructor, you will have access to the most current emergency cardiovascular care science, course updates, training resources and tools through the online AHA Instructor Network. In addition, you will have the freedom to provide AHA certification and non-certification (dependent on Instructor certification) classes in Texas and will also be able to post class dates and times to reach more students through our public website. With our main training site in San Antonio, Texas; our BLS CPR/AED, Heartsaver CPR/AED/First Aid, BLS & Heartsaver CPR/AED/First Aid Dual Instructor, ACLS Instructor, and PALS/PEARS Instructor training dates are varied and usually flexible to accommodate small groups. We also facilitate Instructor training throughout Alabama, Arkansas, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Texas on a regular basis with scheduled Instructor Training dates in Albuquerque, Ashville, Austin, Raleigh/Durham, Corpus Christi, Dallas/Ft. Worth, El Paso, Little Rock, McAllen, Nashville, Knoxville, Oklahoma City,San Angelo, and Texarkana. The goal of Help-A-Heart's Instructor Training guidelines is to walk you through the steps and provide you with all the material and guidance needed to not only to become an instructor but give high quality instructions to save a life! Includes: A. 6.5 to 8.5 Hours of Classroom Instruction in small classroom environment with one-on-one interaction with AHA Training Faculty Member B. Instructor Mentoring and Coaching C. BLS CPR for HCP and/or Heartsaver CPR/AED/First Aid Instructor Manual ($39.25 and $54.95 value per manual) D. ACLS or PALS Instructor Manual ($50.00 value per manual) E. Initial Training Records Fee F. Numerous Instructor Handouts G. Instructor Binder H. 2 Year Certification (Instructor Must Renew Certification Every 2 Years) I. Training Center Alignment J. Instructor Card (This will be emailed to each instructor upon successful completion of Instructor course)
Private and/or One-on-One BLS, Heartsaver, and/or Dual Instructor Certification is also now available! If you are seeking to become an American Heart Association BLS or CPR and First Aid Instructor but would rather take the course in the comfort of your own home, then now you can. The cost of all American Heart Association Instructor courses includes the required American Heart Association Instructor Manual and the required Instructor Essentials online course access code .
