INSTRUCTOR TOOLS

The following resources provide information where AHA Instructors can find the AHA documents and forms they need for BLS, Heartsaver, ACLS and PALS certification classes. There are also some general forms that can be used by any AHA Instructor for internal purposes. Written exams can be obtained by contacting your primary AHA Training Center.
Remember: Instructors are expected to regularly check the AHA Instructor Network for the most current information and latest updates. You must log in to the Instructor Network at least once every six months to remain active.  You will be deactivated by the network if it has been longer that six months.

AHA Instructor documents

​Instructor Candidate Application
​This application is required to be filled out by anyone wishing to become an AHA Instructor (HeartSaver, BLS, ACLS, PALS, or PEARS) before attending an instructor course.
Instructor Monitoring Form
This form is used initially when an instructor is completing their instructor course and being monitored teaching their first class. It's also used every 2 years to monitor an instructor again as part of the renewal process for the instructor certification.
Instructor Records Transfer Request
When an instructor wants to align with a different AHA Training Center, they will need to fill out this form. Afterwards, the new Training Center Coordinator (TCC) will sign it accepting the instructor, and the form will then be sent to the old TCC who has 30 days to transfer all of the instructor's records.
Instructor Renewal Checklist
As part of the instructor certification renewal process which occurs every 2 years, this form must be filled and signed the instructor's Training Center Coordinator or Training Center Faculty performing the renewal. It records the instructor's current contact information, previous teaching history, and has a checklist of the other required steps for renewal.
Instructor Essentials Workbook
The Instructor Essentials Workbook is used during the ACLS, BLS, CPR and First Aid, PALS, and PEARS Instructor course. It contains important information about the AHA, standards, and has frequently asked questions in the back.
How to Claim AHA e-Card
The AHA Claim e-Card instruction sheet is beneficial to many students. This can either be e-mailed to students' or printed out and distributed to students' at time of class.

American Heart Association Instructor Network
The American Heart Association Instructor Network is the website used by the AHA Instructor to update personal information, list AHA courses, download forms, read recent AHA memos as well as the Program Administration Manual (PAM).
Feedback Devices
By January 31, 2019 the AHA will require the use of an instrumented directive feedback device or manikin in all AHA courses that teach the skills of CPR. It must provide audio or visual feedback on the rate and depth of compressions during CPR Training. This requirement will impact BLS, ACLS and Heartsaver courses.

The AHA requires that parties
with whom AHA enters into

proof of insurance coverage. 
This is proof that there are
funds available to cover
any liability that this other
party incurs.
Personal Liability Insurance
This personal liability informational document lists several insurers that provide AHA/ARC/ASHI CPR Instructor insurance per general and liability packages.

Ordering AHA E-cards

American Heart Association ACLS, BLS, Heartsaver, PEARS, and PALS Instructors have four options for ordering AHA e-cards. All instructors also have option of keeping credit card information on file with Help-A-Heart CPR for future orders.
These options for ordering e-cards include the following:
