ACLS 101

ACLS stands for Advanced Cardiac Life Support. The ACLS certification course covers various procedures such as the initiation of IV access, reading and transcribing electrocardiograms and the administration of emergency drugs such as epinephrine, atropine, adenosine, and amiodarone.
During the ACLS class, students will discuss the following topics:

• The recognition and management of issues related to respiration as well as cardiac arrest
• Effective airway management
• ACLS pharmacology terms and definitions
• The proper management of acute coronary syndromes (ACS) and stroke
• Team dynamics and how to serve as both an effective team leader as well as a team member within an emergency resuscitation environment

The ACLS training certification is ideal for those healthcare providers that are working as part of an emergency resuscitation team as well as those seeking to enhance their skills and qualification as a healthcare provider. The BLS certification is a pre-requisite for the ACLS certification as the ACLS course features a review of BLS techniques.
